Hatha

Build your foundation

Hatha yoga is the foundation for many other styles of yoga practiced today like Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Ashtanga. Hatha yoga emphasizes mastering physical postures (asanas) and breathwork (pranayama), laying the groundwork for more advanced practices.

Hatha yoga classes can vary depending on the instructor and their focus. Some classes might emphasize gentle stretches and relaxation, while others may incorporate more challenging postures or a faster pace. Generally, Hatha yoga is designed to be accessible for beginners and people of all fitness levels.

Yin

Go zen yourself

Yin is a very passive form of yoga, focusing on the deepest tissues of the body, including ligaments, joints, bones, and connective tissues. Requiring longer, deeper-held poses, Yin yoga works the lower portion of the body—hips, thighs, lower spine—with a short duration of the practice focusing on standing poses. During each asana (position), your muscles are relaxed to avoid spasms and stretched to increase flexibility.

Vinyasa Flow

Let’s get it Om

Commonly referred to as “flow” yoga, Vinyasa is a style of yoga that strings together various postures in swift and precise movements—allowing you to move from one to another seamlessly. This yoga practice is different from others because no two classes are the same. Instead, you’ll go through a variety of positions that vary in each class to help focus on breathwork and prevent repetitive motion injuries.

Vin Yin

Opposites attract

Vin Yin yoga, also sometimes called Vinyasa Yin or Vin to Yin, is a unique practice that blends two seemingly opposite styles of yoga: Vinyasa and Yin.

The practice typically starts with a Vinyasa flow sequence. This involves linking postures together with the breath in a dynamic and flowing way. The Vinyasa portion can be shorter or longer depending on the class structure and instructor’s preference. After the Vinyasa flow, the class transitions to Yin yoga postures. These are held for extended periods (usually 3-10 minutes or more) and target the deeper connective tissues of the body, promoting flexibility and relaxation.

Hot

Sweat your asana off

Similar to traditional yoga, hot yoga takes place in a heated room for a more intense flow. By adding heat, you’re able to release toxins through sweating. Our yoga instructor will walk you through each pose, ensuring you’re targeting the proper muscles and not over-exerting yourself.

While most hot yoga rooms are warmed to 105 degrees, we keep our temperatures milder, sitting at around 90 degrees. In doing so, those who suffer from Melasma or other skin conditions won’t have a strong reaction to the heat and can enjoy their yoga experience with ease.

Ashtanga

More stretching, less stressing

This dynamic form of yoga is made up of a series of six levels, with a main focus on posture. As a more physically demanding yoga practice, Ashtanga promotes strength, flexibility, and endurance. Students will begin with sun salutations and progress into a disciplined routine of standing and seated poses. Each position will become increasingly more difficult as the class goes on, placing an emphasis on breathwork and energy levels.

Iyengar

Bring on the props

Iyengar yoga is a style of yoga known for its emphasis on precision, alignment, and the use of props. It prioritizes proper body alignment in every pose (asana) to maximize the benefits and minimize the risk of injury. The focus is on holding poses with stability and control, rather than flowing quickly between them.

A distinctive feature of Iyengar yoga is the extensive use of props like blocks, straps, bolsters, and chairs. These props help students achieve proper alignment regardless of their body type, flexibility, or experience level.

Yoga Nidra

Conscious sleeping

Yoga Nidra, also sometimes called “yogic sleep,” is a guided meditation practice that induces a state of deep relaxation while remaining conscious. The practice often involves a systematic body scan, bringing your awareness to different parts of your body and releasing any tension you might be holding.

Breath awareness is an important aspect of Yoga Nidra, promoting relaxation and focus. While the body experiences deep relaxation similar to sleep, the mind remains conscious and aware. This allows you to process experiences and integrate positive intentions.

Breathwork / Meditation

Focus on the moment

Between work, personal responsibilities, social lives, and everything in between, stress can become a (un)friendly face that greets you in the morning. Thankfully, with our breathwork and meditation classes, you can become more aware of your surroundings, cultivate compassion for yourself and others, and focus on the positives. Our meditation instructors aim to teach you how to let go of past or future stressors and focus on the here and now.

Breathwork and meditation doesn’t just focus on the mind but the body as well. You can use what you feel throughout your body as a foundation for your awareness of the world and identify how you react to specific situations. Individuals who meditate on a regular basis have been known to see improvements in their mental clarity, anxiety, heart function, and sleep patterns, as well as lessened blood pressure levels.

Frequently Asked Questions About Yoga
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing similar to what you’d wear to the gym, such as yoga pants paired with a loose-fitting top. This allows for unrestricted movement in the arms and shoulders. In addition to your attire, be sure to bring a water bottle, yoga mat, and towel with you as well. If you don’t own a yoga mat, we’ll be happy to supply one for you free of charge.
This will depend on your fitness goals and current physical condition. We recommend trying one of our Yin or Vinyasa classes so you can learn the poses and understand exactly what to expect in the future.
